Van-Leeuwen

Here we are shooting the wonderful Van-Leeuwen family. From load in to load out this was easily the most fun, inspiring and exciting shoot I’ve had for a while. What pushed today over the edge in terms of excitement was two of my buddies (and extremely talented photographers), Derek and Anna kindly came along to help out and shoot some behind the scenes photo’s. The first shout out of thanks goes out to them for the extremely appreciated help with all the gear and of course, the seriously crisp and fabulous ‘BTS’ images.

Derek, Anna – Your absolute stars. Thank you.

The Van-Leeuwens

Thomas Van-Leeuwen called me a few weeks ago while I was on holiday with my family, Thomas enquired about a family portraits session, from the moment Thomas described his requirements, his family and also the surroundings we would be shooting in, I was very, very much looking forward to this day.

The weather was a little on the grim side for us but luckily, the golden hues of the August barley fields helped us out quite nicely. Everyone was absolutely delightful to work with.

This was my second shoot using only Profoto lighting, I have recently sold, given away and passed on my older heads, now I’am using just the AcuteB 600R and a Compact 600 (powered via Tronix Xplorer XT on location).
So far, I’m more than pleased. Consistency, quality and of course big power in small packages make every difference when one finds oneself in rapidly changing circumstances.

The greater proportion of the day was lit with the AcuteB alone, diffused with a 90cm softbox perched upon on an Avenger D600 boom with A0030CS base and counter weight. For the family shot, the Compact 600 acted as a backlight on the lovely red wooden barn, focused via the normal zoom reflector at 100°.

An epic round of applause followed by immense gratification and appreciation goes to Thomas and his wonderful family. I sincerely hope I get the opportunity to take your portraits again.

Huge thanks again to Derek and Anna for being superb helpers.
