I’m extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to shoot some more bands. It’s a relief to get back to the world of music after all this time. It really pops the button on the scene when the band are as enthusiastic and as fun to be around as these guys. An upcoming Finnish outfit, keep your eyes peeled for Boogie Zone!
Here I have a collection of images that have been taken from the rear passenger seat in a moving car. There’s something about these shots that I really like, maybe that even with extremely fast shutter speeds that freeze the action, there is still the feeling of movement or at least that ‘I’m a just a passerby, moving on through’.
Blimey, what a week! We’ve been up hill, down dale, through hairy ass narrow road and over many a mile by mountain, and of course, we’ve enjoyed every last slice of it all. Tuuli and I are currently on our annual visit to visit my family, this year we are frolicking in Wales and finally up to Scotland, visiting my good buddy Clutch, who you may recognise from a post a few years ago.
Introducing the Quickstrap & Quickloader. Both intuitive inventions designed to provide a multitude of storage and transportation solutions far more rapid and efficient than competing alternatives. It’s been a while since I have been commissioned to shoot some products and these particular products have been a huge amount of fun to shoot.
Here I have easily one of the most enjoyable, productive and successful company portrait sessions to date. It’s not very often that I get complete creative autonomy and to be brutally honest, I don’t usually like having it either when it comes to shoots like this. I prefer to discover and ultimately offer all my clients expectations. This was no different but what made this shoot exceptional was the people – they all had brilliant character. Plus, they wanted images that were natural yet outside of the ‘average box’. Just. Awesome.
“Having arrived spot-on our agreed time, as we stand in the kitchen of the office that houses documentary filmmaker Michael Franck’s family business, Franck Media, the sharply dressed media producer and director is currently busily attending to the espresso machine.
Owner of the first independent documentary film making company in the country, Franck’s colourful career has included stints in Helsinki, Tehran and Hollywood, and has been involved in politics, journalism and filmmaking in various capacities for the past four decades…” James O’Sullivan – Six Degrees Finland.
The usual spring trip to the cottage to open up, clean and prepare for the summer holidays is a little different this year. Primarily as I drove there for the first time. Above is ‘Betty’, our 96 Ford Mondeo. An absolute steal for the price Tuuli paid and she provides us with a smooth and safe ride. How long for is another story.
Here’s a few shots from a promo session for upcoming Finnish band – Nuance. These lads were great to photograph, great humour, enthusiasm and I thank them sincerely for being able to work, undistracted in a busy car park corridor on the underground levels of Musiikkitalo in Helsinki city.
